Senior In College

My senior year of college, I shared a dorm room with my best friend, and a ghost. We both had separate experiences with him - twice, I woke up from a deep sleep in the middle of the night to see a shadowy figure standing at the foot of the third bed in our room. I couldn't make out any features, and for some reason, I never felt threatened, so I would just fall back to sleep instead of trying to wake up fully and see who he was. My roommate had a similar experience, but also woke up one night when she thought I was going through the food she had next to her bed - it wasn't me.

We didn't tell each other about the ghost, because we both thought we were just dreaming. However, it came up one day at lunch and when we each described him, we both said he had been wearing a large brimmed hat. Our friends were of course still very skeptical, but the college has been around for almost 200 years and there was a rumor that the founder of the fraternity that had once called the building home was actually buried in one of its walls. We'd also had a tragic death at the school earlier that year, when a painter at the dorm next door had fallen off a ladder. So although I'm more inclined to believe in the paranormal than my best friend, the experience made her a believer!

However, once we talked to each other about the ghost, we never saw him again.
